Márquez began his formal piano training in Cordoba (Spain) at the age of seven and completed with a Prize from the Conservatory when he was seventeen. He was an award-winner of The International piano contest “Marisa Montiel” and gained his Masters with Josep María Colom at the University of Madrid.
Márquez has worked with many world renowned conductors such as Romano Gandolfi (Scala of Milan), Javier Pérez Batista (Liceo of Barcelona), Paolo Sanzogno and Miguel Roa (Theatre of La Zarzuela).
He has performed for many seasons at Theatre of La Zarzuela (Madrid) working with Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Teresa Berganza, Isabel Matinos, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Luis Navarro,Hugo de Ana and toured with some of the biggest classical orchestras such as The Berlin Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra.
He studied jazz and arranging at New England Conservatory and Berklee School of Music in Boston and at Manhattan School of Music in New York with Kenny Barron. He has played with flamenco and jazz artists such as Vicente Amigo, Carles Benavent, Josep Mas Kitflus, Salvador Niebla, Guillermo Mcgill, Javier Colina, Tino di Geraldo, John Parsons, Victor merlo and Angie Bao.
Márquez is a proficient composer and leader of the flamenco fusion band JÁNDALO who perform at many festival around the world. Since 1989, he has been Professor of the Superior Conservatory of Music in Córdoba.
